Save-A-Lot Fans Have our Heart

Keeping Fans Engaged on Facebook

Last September, 4ORCE built a Facebook campaign that grew Save-A-Lot’s fan-base by 300%. Following that campaign, we knew we needed to maintain momentum to ensure continued fan engagement and growth. Save-A-Lot fans put a lot of care into feeding their families fun, healthy meals for less. Three recent promotions were a perfect match for these savvy shoppers: the Homemade for the Holidays contest, a Save on Health app and a Sweets For your Sweets sweepstakes.

Homemade for the Holidays: Facebook fans were invited to submit photos of their favorite holiday treats for a chance to star in the Save-A-Lot profile photo as the Fan of the Week. Winners were also featured in a wall post, garnering lots of attention from the community. Honorable mentions were also noted in the contest photo album. Overall engagement for the promotion was extremely high and fans were very vocal in sharing their favorite holiday recipes.

Save on Health: This multi-part Facebook app housed “evergreen” content honoring the spirit of the new year and the audience’s interest in affordable healthy eating. The app included weekly nutrition facts, daily health quiz questions, weekly family dinner recipes and a wall for sharing new year’s resolutions. Fans quickly connected with content, which led to a refresh of the app for February. The second month offered even more nutrition facts, quiz questions and recipes; we also updated the call-to-action for user-generated content from sharing resolutions to sharing healthy recipes they love to cook for their loved ones.

Sweets for your Sweets: To celebrate their sweethearts, fans entered a daily sweeps through Valentine’s Day to win a $5 voucher to use on their sweetie while shopping at their local Save-A-Lot. After selecting which candy heart message they thought was “sweeter” (for example, LOOKIN’ GOOD or HOT STUFF?), fans simply registered with an email address to be entered to win. Bonus: They could sign up for the Smart Shopper Club at the same time!

With such an engaged and responsive community, managing Save-A-Lot social media has been really rewarding for everyone involved. Save-A-Lot Brand Manager Matt Biegacki said, “The engagement and growth of the Save-A-Lot community has made our Facebook campaigns very exciting, and 4ORCE’s innovative approach and knowledge of the social media space has allowed us to make the most of our audience online. We’re looking forward to more mutual successes in the upcoming months.” Our sentiments exactly.
